Why NOT select me to “Blog my way around the world?”
I’ve got my bag packed, my passport is current, my kid graduates in a year, I’m a single 20-year Navy veteran currently working for a non-profit, and I LIVE to travel. When do I leave?
As much as I enjoy experiencing new cultures, new food, and new sights and sounds, I also enjoy sharing the journey. The tediousness of trying out new gear, finding new routes, and planning the best travel mode is something I enjoy. Sharing my finds with others that aren’t as enamored with the details helps them learn from my mistakes and get more pleasure out of their own adventure.
Many contest entries are full of stories of passion for travel, but selecting me will guarantee a winner with a passion for writing as well! Postcards are the original travel blogs; short, sweet and colorful. Before blogging, attempting to cram as much as possible about a special locale on the back of a 3x5 card forced me to consider the precise words that would capture the essence of what I was experiencing and my travels with the Navy gave me plenty of practice! Over time, technology has made travel blogging even easier, and way more fun! Check out a brief sample here: http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/wndrlst13/
As a child, I spent countless hours soaking in the words and images of the Smithsonian World Atlas given to me as a gift when I was eight. My tiny fingers traveled the world while I absorbed the exciting and exotic facts about the far-away lands. The glossy pictures invited and excited and fueled my wanderlust from an early age. As I grew older, I longed to be a travel agent; imagining a career that paid me to do what I loved. The planning, packing, going, seeing, doing, tasting..it was all so invigorating.
Here it is, many years later and my love for travel and adventure has not subsided. I still remember that atlas and all the places not yet explored. Although, I did figure out that rather than tell people where to go, I’d much rather tell them where I’ve been!
I would “Blog my way around the world” with zeal, efficiency, and purposeful intent to share the good and bad-turned-good days with blog readers everywhere!
