I'd love to be selected. Here's why. I love to share what I experience with anyone who enjoys travel journals.
I've sent detailed accounts of my travels in the following countries. Anyone can email me (moreah@comcast.net) for any of these, and I will send
the information from the countries you request. Before I got my computer in 1998, I’d kept
journals of my 1963 (12-week) trip to several European countries, 1982 trip to Mexico and 1992 (5 months, when I taught ESL in Morelia),
1995 (3-month) trip to SE Asia, 1998 trip to several countries in Europe and 2001 train trip across Canada.
The emails experiences I’d share come from
Turkey and Egypt 2004
New Zealand and Australia 2005
Puerto Rico 2006
Guatemala and Costa Rica 2007
Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England 2009
Washington DC Oct. 2009
Why should I win? Because I am 69 and will never grow up. Because I love to share my life with the people I meet in my travels.
Because I want to go to Vietnam and China while I’m strong and healthy. Because I might write a third book about travel vignettes.
First two: Pleasures and Ponderings: From Nun to Nudist to Now (77 personal essays) AND Diving Right In: Reflecting on Life’s Adventures (poetry
and vignettes from when I was a single parent).
In addition, I am courageous. Through www.couchsurfing.com, I stayed free in people's homes in Scotland, Wales and England.
That, plus stays in hostels, cost an average $10.92 a night for the 30 day trip. I love adventure. I’ve gone across a valley on a zip line in Central America, and done hang gliding in Turkey, but only watched naked bungee jumping—can’t remember which country.
I was thrilled to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, and in Egypt's Red Sea. I loved Egypt's tombs and pyramids, and riding a camel near the Sphinx.
I saw Christians in the Irian Jaya hills doing chanting and dancing on Christmas, then saw them kill a pig and roast it and share it with the village and visitors.
I'll be happy to blog during the trip. You'll love my stories and feel like you're there! To share past and future adventures, send a blank email to moreahs-musings-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
