They say when one door closes, another opens. Oh, please let this be that door!
I recently found myself in the company of 15 million others… in the unemployment line. Since this all happened just before Christmas, I’m still reeling from the shock and wondering what I’m going to do next. Then I found this contest! With only a few hours to obtain votes, it’s a long shot at best, but, what the heck… I love a challenge!
Travel and photography are my passions. By scrimping, saving and researching for great deals, I have been fortunate enough to have already experienced a great deal of the world… but, it’s a great big wonderful world out there and there is so much more to see.
Currently, my preferred travel destinations involve undeveloped countries because it seems that everywhere is becoming developed so quickly. I want to experience and record in images and words as much as possible before being relegated to a cultural center.
I also love the unusual and exciting... I’ve been swimming with humpback whales in Tonga, great white sharks in South Africa, pink dolphins in the Amazon… not to mention alligator wrestling in Florida and riding a water buffalo in Thailand. I’m scuba certified and have hang glided, bungee jumped, zip lined, zorbed and went skydiving on a static lines, before the days of tandem jumps.
At the urging of friends, I started my own blog: SusansWorldAdventures.com and now finally have time to work on chronicling my many adventures. I’ve always envisioned it to be an interactive blog, where everyone can share travel tips and destination suggestion, and help me decide where to go next (send Susan Packing!). I have lots of great trip ideas (Genghis Kahn warrior training in Mongolia, swimming with orcas in Sweden, belugas in Churchill, platypus in Australia…).
I think that the adventures in this contest are right up my alley and I would definitely find some exciting side adventures to keep everyone from falling asleep reading my blogs. I have many travel buddies, and also have no qualms in traveling solo… better to go alone than not at all. I would also be willing to take a couple of trips with contributors on the Blog Around the World website as voted on by readers.
