I blogged before blogging was a word! I've traveled to all of our wonderful states but Hawaii and during all of my travels I sent post cards. I see post cards as the snail mail version of a blog. I would buy stamps before we left home and then would send out postcards from all of my stops. One friend of mine has saved all the postcards she has received from me over these last thirty five years! This past year I went electronic and put together a blog of my trip to the Canadian maritimes. I loved it because it was instantly out there with my own photos attached which was a real thrill for me. But also, because each evening I could check the blog and see responses from friends around the country that followed me on my travels. In the past the postcards tempted and interested friends in places I visited and now my blog did the same thing. BUT I still sent out postcards. I knew my collector of my postcards friend would be disappointed if I didn't send postcards (old fashioned blogging in my mind). I was correct as she emailed me and said she was glad to see that I had still kept up my old tradition with the postcards even though I had entered the electronic world of blogging. I have always been a letter writer and having email and blogging capabilities is heavenly. It is something that I looked forward to doing each day and, in fact, would keep the blogging in the back of my mind as I took photographs that would be funny as well as entice my friends to consider a visit to wherever I happened to be. I love traveling this great country and my bucket list is endless of places to go. There is much to see and do and I'm ever grateful for what I've been able to do. My postcards and blog have opened up the opportunity for my friends and family to also "visit" places as well. I'm constantly asked, "where are you going next and please do that blog again". I will...and I will also send out those postcards.
