The Contest commences on May 4, 2010 8:00:00 a.m. Eastern Time and concludes on December 31, 2010 at 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time (the "Contest Period"). This Contest is sponsored by Backroads Corporation, Canadian Mountain Holidays Inc., Lindblad Expeditions, Natural Habitat Inc., O.A.R.S. Dories Inc., Off the Beaten Path LLC, Orion Expedition Cruises Pty Ltd., Taicoa Corporation d/b/a Micato Safaris, Marmot Mountain, LLC - DBA ExOfficio, Gaiam Inc., Smith Sport Optics, Inc. – DBA Smith Optics, Eagle Creek, Deckers Outdoor Corporation - DBA Teva, Werner Publishing Corporation – DBA Outdoor Photographer, and AFAR Media, LLC – DBA AFAR Magazine (collectively the "Sponsors"). This contest will be administered and run by the Contest Administrator.

Eligibility

The Contest is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) states of the United States, the District of Columbia and Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec, who have reached the age of majority in the province or state where they reside by May 4, 2010 and who have blogging and posting capabilities as of May 4, 2010. The Contest is not open to the following persons: (a) employees, agents, or representatives of the Sponsors, the subsidiaries, parent companies or affiliate companies of the Sponsors, suppliers providing prizes or other materials or services in connection with this Contest, including promotional agencies and marketing organizations, including the Contest Administrator, (collectively, the "Excluded Individuals"), (b) immediate family members of the Excluded Individuals, and (c) any other persons with whom the Excluded Individuals reside. "Immediate family" is defined as parents, siblings, children or spouse.

How To Enter

2.	To enter, between May 4, 2010 and December 31, 2010, visit the official Contest web site at www.blogyourwayaroundtheworld.com and you must fully complete the official Contest entry form and successfully enter your blog post. You will automatically be entered into the Contest. You must provide your full name, address, postal code, email address and phone number. Your entry will be disqualified if you (i) provide information that is incomplete or inaccurate, or (ii) fail to comply with or attempt to circumvent the terms and conditions of these Official Rules and Regulations.
3.	Limit one entry per person. No two people may use the same email address. Automated entries are not permitted.
4.	No purchase is necessary to enter this Contest.

Blog Requirements

5.	The Contest blog entries must contain adventure travel related content.
6.	Each Contest blog entry must not be longer than 400 words.
7.	Each Contest blog entry must be the original creation of the entrant and must not contain any pre-existing or third party content. Third party content includes and is not limited to a work of authorship, trademarks, brands, logos, images, visual effects and images that are not the property of the entrant. Each entry must be unique and not infringe the rights of any third party, infringes or potentially infringes any third party intellectual property or proprietary rights including without limitation, copyright, confidential information, right of publicity and privacy.
8.	Blog entries that include offensive content, commercial content that promotes anything other than the products or services offered by the Sponsors or have been published prior to or during the Contest Period will be disqualified at any point during the Contest Period at the sole discretion of the Contest Administrator. The Contest Administrator reserve the right to remove and/or report any inappropriate content for any reason.
9.	Contest entries must not contain content: where any persons are depicted to have taken excessive risks; that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, violent, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous or libelous; that promotes racism or hatred against any group or individual or that promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; or that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws in the state or province where the blog was created or may be viewed.

Voting and Winner

10.	During the Contest Period, visitors and users of the Contest website, www.blogyourwayaroundtheworld.com, will be entitled to vote on their favourite blog. All valid blog entries will be available for voting.
11.	All voters may vote for their one favorite essay using their registered account. All voters will be allowed one vote for the entire contest period. Voters may switch their vote from one blog entry to another blog entry. If voters do switch their one vote, the last blog entry that voter voted for will count as their final vote and will count towards the final number of votes for that specific blog entry.
12.	The blog entry that received the most number of valid votes during that Contest Period will be selected as the winner of the Contest. In the event of a tie in the voting, three sponsors will be selected at random from the sponsor list and each sponsor will cast one vote for one of two tied entries. The winner will be selected from those votes.
13.	The winner will be contacted by phone no later than January 3, 2011. The entrant identified as the winner will be contacted by phone at the phone number set out on their entry. Only three attempts will be made, each on a different day. A voice message will be left if possible. If direct contact is not made with the selected entrant for any reason within forty-eight (48) hours of the last attempt, or the selected entrant is unwilling or unable to comply with these Official Contest Rules and Regulations, they will thereby forfeit all of the Prizes and the entrant with the next highest number of votes will be selected as the winner and the forgoing attempts will be made to contact the newly selected winner. The forgoing shall repeat until a selected winner (the "Prize Winner") complies with the forgoing.

Prize Terms

15.	Actual retail values of the individual Prizes will vary depending on travel dates selected. The individual Prizes are subject to blackout dates and availability. Please contact the Sponsors for details.
16.	For any of the Prizes that states that 2 people are entitled to participate, the Prize Winner will be entitled to select a travel companion (the "Travel Partner") to accompany them on those Prizes. Prize Winner and their Travel Partner must travel together on the same itinerary. Any Travel Partner selected by the prize winner must be 21 years old as of the departure date of the first trip taken. The Travel Partner does not need to be the same Travel Partner for all trips. The trip is not forfeited if the prize winner chooses to travel alone.
17.	Airfare for the Prize Winner and their Travel Partner is included as a prize to a maximum value of $8000.00 USD. Any additional travel is not included. Prize Winner and their Travel Partner are solely responsible for booking travel to and from the respective Prize's departure point, including air travel, travel related insurance, baggage fees, airport fees, ground transportation, taxes and transfers. Such travel is to be booked solely and exclusively through Natural Habitat Inc. All incidental costs in using or claiming a Prize not specifically outlined in the Prize description are the sole responsibility of the Prize Winner and their Travel Partner, including but not limited to: pre-trip and post-trip hotel stays, medical and travel related insurance, excess baggage fees, airport fees, taxes, transportation, parking, fuel, gasoline surcharges, spending money, tips, meals, beverages, communication charges, merchandise and any and all other charges not specifically mentioned as part of a Prize and all personal expenses of any kind or nature.
18.	Prize Winner and their Travel Partner are solely responsible for obtaining their own travel documents (including, as required, passports, vaccination certificates and insurance) in advance of redeeming a Prize. The Sponsors are not responsible in the event a Prize Winner or their Travel Partner is refused entry to a destination or re-entry for whatever reason and any unused portion of a Prize will be forfeit.
19.	The Sponsors strongly recommends that the Winner and any Travel Partner obtain any personal, travel, accident, baggage, medical, health, hospital and trip cancellation insurance as desired prior to departure. The Contest Administrator and Sponsors will not be responsible for the cost of the same and will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred or suffered due to the failure to obtain the same or be liable for any loss or damage incurred or suffered in connection with any insurable peril.
20.	The Prizes in this Contest must be accepted as awarded. Prizes may not be exactly as described. In case of unavailability of any Prize or for any other reason, the Sponsors, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
21.	The Contest Administrator and the Sponsors are not responsible for any cancelled, delayed, suspended or rescheduled, for any reason, of any activity, event, exhibit or attraction forming any part of a Prize. The relevant Sponsor will attempt to provide a substitute activity, event, exhibit or attraction of equal or greater value. However if a substitute is not reasonably available or cannot be used by the Prize Winner or their Travel Partner, for whatever reason, the Winner agrees to accept the balance of the Prizes in and as full satisfaction of the Prizes in their entirety and agrees that he/she shall have no claim against the Contest Administrator or the Sponsors or any other person in respect of the cancelled, delayed, suspended or rescheduled portion of a Prize.
22.	If the Prize Winner and their Travel Partner are not able to use any Prize or any part thereof or are not able to comply with any condition relating to a Prize or these Official Contest Rules and Regulations as they relate to a Prize, for any reason, they will thereby forfeit that Prize. Each separate Prize must be taken as a whole and no part of a Prize will be awarded.
23.	The Prizes cannot be transferred, assigned, changed or substituted for another prize, or exchanged in whole or in part, for cash, subject to the provisions set forth elsewhere in these Official Contest Rules and Regulations.
24.	All Prize trips must be completed no later than December 31, 2014.
25.	No change will be permitted to travel dates or passenger names once a Prize has been booked by the Sponsor. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to designate all particulars, travel, routes and itinerary of the Prize. No refunds or any other payments or substitutions will be made for any Prize or portion of Prize cancelled once booked or for any Prize or portion of a Prize that is not used, for any reason.

Chance Of Winning

26.	The chance of winning the Prizes in this Contest will depend, in part, on the quality of your blog in comparison to the quality of the other blogs received during the Contest Period.

General Rules

27.	The Prize Winner must complete and sign an affidavit of eligibility and compliance (the "Affidavit of Eligibility/Compliance") which, among other things, confirms eligibility and compliance with these rules and acceptance of the Prizes as awarded. As well, the Prize Winner must complete and sign a liability and publicity release form (the "Liability/Publicity Release Form") in which, among other things, the Prize Winner assume all risks associated with acceptance and use of the Prizes and releases certain parties from any and all losses, liabilities, damages or claims arising from or related to the prize awarded and the Contest itself and grants the Contest Administrator and Sponsors the right to publish certain information regarding the Winner. The Travel Partner is also required to complete and sign the Affidavit of Eligibility/Compliance and the Liability/Publicity Release Form. The selected Prize Winner and their Travel Partner will have five (5) days to complete, sign and return the Affidavit of Eligibility/Compliance and the Liability/Publicity Release Form. If a selected Prize Winner and the Travel Partner does not return their Affidavit of Eligibility/Compliance and Liability/Publicity Release Form within five (5) days, the selected Prize Winner will be declared ineligible and another entrant will be selected in accordance with these rules. As well, any Travel Partner that has not reached the age of majority in the province or state in which they reside must have the Affidavit of Eligibility/Compliance and Liability/Publicity Release Form signed by their parent or guardian.
28.	Each Contest entrant, by participating in this Contest, hereby agrees to release the Sponsors, the subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors and retailers of the Sponsors and all suppliers providing Prizes or other materials or services in connection with this Contest and the Prizes, including promotional agencies and marketing organizations, including the Contest Administrator, and each of their respective officers, directors and employees (collectively, the "Releasees") from any and all claims, liability, loss or damage whatsoever arising with respect to the Contest or the awarding, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of any Prize and further acknowledges that none of the foregoing persons have made nor are responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee whatsoever in respect of any Prize or the quality, suitability or enjoyment thereof.
29.	The Winner hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all claims, demands and liability for any injury, loss or damage of any kind to any person or persons, including death and property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any Prize or any part of a Prize, participation in the Contest or participation in any Prize-related activity. The winner and the travel partner may be required to sign additional Waivers of Liability and Assumption of Risk documents as required by the individual travel partners, prior to the departure of any trip awarded.
30.	The Winner and their Travel Partner understand that travel, whether in civilized or remote areas and whether by aircraft, motor vehicle, water craft, horse, foot or other conveyance, whether on land, water or air and that the activities contemplated by the Prizes present inherent risks of property damage, personal injury and death, and which may arise as a result of accident, illness, negligence, forces of nature, wild animals or otherwise, and which may or may not be known and which may or may not be foreseeable and which may arise before, during and following the trip. The Winner and the Travel Partner have agreed to assume all such risks of property damage, personal injury and death. Given the nature of the Prizes, in order to participate the Winner and any Travel Partner must be of suitable health. The Contest Administrator reserves the right to require a letter from the individual's physician stating that their participation will not pose any material risk to the individual's health.
31.	The Contest Administrator is only responsible for the administration of the Contest. Contest Administrator is not responsible for any Prize except for those Prizes, if any, that it is listed as being the sponsor of in the Prizes section of these Official Contest Rules and Regulations.
32.	The decisions of the Contest Administrator are final and will be binding on all entrants with respect to all aspects of this Contest, including but not limited to, eligibility of entrants, compliance with these rules and selection of the Prize Winner.
33.	All entries become the property of the Contest Administrator and receipt of any entry will not be acknowledged and no entry will be returned.
34.	All federal, state, provincial, local and other tax liabilities, including, but not limited to, sales and use taxes, excise taxes, income and withholding taxes, customs duties, fees and like amounts in connection with the acceptance and use of the Prizes are the sole responsibility of the Prize Winner and their Travel Partner.
35.	Except where prohibited by law, by submitting an entry and accepting any of the Prizes the Winner grants the Sponsors (and their nominees) a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use his/her name, photograph, voice, likeness and the whole or any part of any statement or statements he/she has made or makes concerning the Contest or the Prizes, for the Sponsors (and their nominees) to use in connection with any publicity, promotion or advertising of any nature, whether or not related to the Prizes or Contest and the Winner hereby consents to such use without further notice, consent, approval or compensation. The Winner agrees to make themselves reasonably available for an opportunity to have photographs taken of them during each of the Prizes. The Winner also agrees that the Sponsor may publish their name, city and province/state of residence as being the winner of the Contest. The Travel Partner must agree to the forgoing as well.
36.	In the event that the Contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, including any errors in programming, printing, distribution or production errors or any other errors or other causes of any nature whatsoever beyond the reasonable control of the Contest Administrator and/or its agencies which corrupt or affect the administration, security, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, the Contest Administrator reserve the right to terminate or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part, or modify it in any way at the Contest Administrator's sole discretion, without advance notice and without liability on the part of the Contest Administrator.
37.	The Contest Administrator, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person, any entry or any votes suspected of violating the entry process, voting process or otherwise violating these rules.
38.	No responsibility is assumed by the Contest Administrator, the Sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, for any disruption to telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software or failure of any entry to be received because of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof. The Contest Administrator and Sponsors assume no responsibility for lost, late, stolen, postage-due, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete or illegible entries, as well as any printing, administrative or other error of any kind in connection with this Contest. The Contest Administrator and the Sponsor assumes no responsibility or liability for failure or unavailability of the Contest website during the contest period or for any other problem or technical malfunction in the operation of the Contest.
39.	The Contest Administrator and Sponsors are not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any Contest-related materials.
40.	In all circumstances, the total maximum liability of the Contest Administrator and Sponsors to any entrant shall be equal to the amount which is equal to the value of the Prizes divided by the total number of eligible entries received.
41.	By entering the Contest and voluntarily providing your personal information as described in these Official Contest Rules and Regulations, you agree to the collection, use and disclosure by the Contest Administrator and their representatives, promotional agencies and marketing organization of your personal information for the purpose of administering the Contest, including without limitation contacting entrants in respect of the Contest. Unless you provide notice otherwise, each Sponsor may use your name, address and email address to send you information by regular mail or email about products, services and upcoming promotions that the Sponsor thinks may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive such information, send a letter to: Blog Your Way Around the World Contest, c/o P.O. Box 3065, Boulder, Colorado, USA 80307 providing your name and address and indicating that you do not wish to receive such information.
42.	In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Official Contest Rules and Regulations and any other material relating to the Contest, these Official Contest Rules and Regulations shall prevail, govern and control. In the case of a discrepancy or inconsistency between these Official Contest Rules and Regulations and the Liability/Publicity Release Form, the Liability/Publicity Release Form will govern.
43.	The names of any company, product or service mentioned herein or on the Contest website, and any corresponding trademark, likeness, logo or image thereof, have been used for identification purposes only and may be the copyrighted properties and trademark of their respective owners.
44.	For a resident of the United States, this Contest and the terms and conditions contained in these Official Rules and Regulations shall be exclusively governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado and the federal laws of the United States of America applicable therein and any dispute arising in connection with the Contest or these Official Rules and Regulations shall be adjudicated solely in the applicable court in the State of Colorado. For a resident of Canada, this Contest and the terms and conditions contained in these Official Rules and Regulations shall be exclusively governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of the Canada applicable therein and any dispute arising in connection with the Contest or these Official Rules and Regulations shall be adjudicated solely in the applicable court in the Province of Alberta.
